CHARLEY MAYVE LOVE
ARTIST
Born: 1973, United States
Charley Mayve Love is an interdisciplinary artist known for her work in photography, sculpture, performance and modeling. She gained recognition in the Seattle erotic art scene in the early part of the century for co-curating significant erotic art exhibitions such as SAKE and SUSHI. Love co-owned the gallery, Studio 10, which was located in Pioneer Square, Seattle's art district. She co-curated memorable shows until early 2014 when she moved to the Amazon jungle.
Love's journey into erotic art began with latex fashion modeling, well before the fashion industry embraced inclusivity. The collaborative work Love worked on has been enjoyed by millions of viewers online and at juried exhibitions including the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival, at gallery shows, salons, and featured in notable publications such as SkinTwo Magazine, The Stranger and the book, From the Click of a Perverts Camera.
Charley’s photography tends to capture fleeting moments and delves into themes of vulnerability, authenticity and spirituality. Her portraits focus on emotional depth and raw unedited beauty.
Additionally, Charley has performed in several award-winning short films presented at the Hong Kong, Seattle, and Los Angeles Film Festivals. She has performed in erotic themed stage performances at private events as well as being showcased at public events such as the Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle Fetish Balls, SUSHI, SAKI, and the Seattle Erotic Art Festival. The towering steel sculptures she co-created for the 2013 Burning Man event are now a part of private collections in Joshua Tree and Seattle.
In 2018, after becoming mostly bed-bound due to a mysterious illness, Charley put away her latex, cameras and welding gear to embrace painting. This shift in medium has her currently developing techniques and establishing her style. She is a new member of the Lexington Art League for added support on this lane change.
Charley is now working from her home studio in Madison County, Kentucky.
